Tips to Start the Year in Good Health 2023

Are you planning to start the new year in good health? Whether you are spending more time outdoors or reordering your priorities, there are many ways to start 2023 off right! The start of a new year is often a time to reflect on what could be improved in our lives, or what could make us happier. The key to keeping good resolutions is to set realistic, achievable goals that bring satisfaction – not stress if you don’t achieve them. Here are three easy tips to start the year in good health!

Write what motivates you

1. Set your priorities

You’ve probably already made a list of your desires and projects in your head. But even if you are retired and have more free time, there are only 24 hours in a day! So, to focus on what really matters, write down what motivates you on a piece of paper, in order of importance.

Then, develop a list of achievable and measurable goals based on your two biggest motivators. For example, if you want to “be more energetic”, make a promise to yourself to “reduce alcohol consumption” or “eat foods with a low glycemic index”.

By focusing on just two or three goals and putting them down on paper, you are more likely to follow through. Accepting the idea that you can’t do or achieve everything is the best way to start the year right!

2. Be grateful

Did you know that gratitude is the opposite of stress? Scientific evidence suggests there is a relationship between gratitude and well-being. These clinical trials have shown that thinking about the things that make us happy helps lower blood pressure, boost the immune system and even sleep better. Plus, it takes almost no effort! All you have to do is make a list of the things you are grateful for in your life. It can be anything from becoming a grandmother or grandfather to enjoying a good cup of tea. The important thing is simply to focus on all the things that bring you happiness or pleasure, rather than on the little hassles of everyday life.

3. Get out of your comfort zone

Starting the year off right also means setting new goals to get out of your comfort zone. It’s never too late to take risks and learn something new, from pottery to yoga to foreign languages. The key is to persevere and not get discouraged at the slightest difficulty. Instead, congratulate yourself when you succeed! And you, what are your tips for starting the year on the right foot?
