I got my Lap Band in June of 07 and wish I would have had it done 20 years ago.
After Yo-Yo dieting for most of my adult life, found the Lap Band was perfect for my struggling weight problems…The Lap Band has truly changed my life and I would recommend if for anybody who is overweight and thinking about making a change for the better.
I am very pleased with my surgery! I have lost almost 130 pounds so far! I am really excited about the outcome With the weight that I have lost I am off my blood pressure medication and feel great.
Like I said before I wish I would have had this done years ago! I’m not saying it saved my life but I will say it prolonged it.

By the time my husband, Mike, and myself contacted Dr. Huacuz, we had decided that we wanted to pursue more knowledge regarding the Gastric Sleeve Surgery. Mike did not have medical insurance, and my insurance would not approve me for any gastric procedure as I did not completely meet the criteria for medical necessity. However, as he was greater than a 100 lbs. over weight and I was 70 lbs. overweight (along with co-morbidities of Type II Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol/triglycerides, etc.), after much thought and research, we contacted th Dr. who quickly confirmed, in our minds, that Dr. Huacuz was in fact the person whom we wanted to perform our surgeries.
Our surgeries were performed on October 20, 2008, with great success and overall results. Mike has lost 105 lbs. and I have lost 53 lbs. to date. We have not encountered any problems in our recovery process. We were given very clear and concise instructions for post-surgery and Dr. Huacuz and staff followed-up with us, religiously, to ensure that we were progressing, well, and didn’t have any lingering questions or concerns. From the moment we landed in San Diego until we flew out 7 days later, our experience with Dr. Huacuz and his Team (Victor, Rosa, his entire nursing staff), was one of complete care, with great compassion from all and extreme knowledge and professionalism.
We would recommend Dr. Huacuz to anyone looking for gastric surgery (and specifically the Sleeve procedure) for guiding us with her expertise as a Nurse and a facilitator to Dr. Huacuz, and for helping us to first, make the decision to entrust our health and well-being to Dr. Huacuz and second, to help us reach a comfortable zone in terms of the surgery itself. Dr Huacuz and staff, Thank you for all the information that has been sent, I read it all, and usually print it all out to keep. I am doing very well with the Band, as you recall I had my surgery October 18th of 07. Since then I have had one fill, and am down about 32lbs. I am feeling very good, people are starting to really notice now, I have dropped about three sizes in clothes, which feels so good!!!!! My oldest daughter is getting married the end of March and I had to actually buy a size 16 dress, wow, have not seen that size for a LONG time 
I am going to a gym at least four times a week, which makes me feel even better on those days I go, I have so much more energy. I am so glad I made the decision to get the Band….. I look forward to coming back for the finishing touches when it’s time. Thanks so much!!!
